Due to the physical and mechanical properties, namely its abrasion and impact resistance, Bonaprene’s Bonathane polyurethane is extensively used to manufacture a variety of products within the mining, quarrying and material handling industries. Polyurethane products are manufactured with holes, slots and metal inserts incorporated eliminating the need for drilling etc. to be undertaken prior to the product being incorporated.
Multiple Hardness Polyurethane Mouldings
Bonaprene Products have pioneered the manufacture of multiple hardness mouldings in Bonathane. The finished product is homogenous in all aspects except for the hardness and if required the colour.
This technology has many applications and is widely used in screening and crushing machines in the quarrying industry for impact pads in hoppers receiving heavy loads of rock and aggregate.
Bonded Polyurethane Mouldings
Bonaprene Products having been manufacturing polyurethane to metal bonded mouldings for over twenty years. In this time Bonaprene have mastered the technology and necessary high standards to produce bonds of strengths that even exceed the strength of the Bonathane polyurethane.
This technology is used on screening and crushing machines for parts such as rear foot mounting pads on jaw crusher units and conveyor base and wing impact bars
Load and Impact Pads and Bars
Bonaprene Products manufacture a wide range of Polyurethane impact pads. Polyurethane has great advantage over competitive impact pad materials. Compared to steels and rigid plastics, such as Nylon and polyethylene, polyurethane’s elastomer properties allow deflection from impact. This means the force of load impact is dissipated by polyurethane’s deflection and re-bound and so the wear is much lower. Polyurethane, again through its elastomer properties, also gives much lower noise pollution in the working environment. While other elastomers, such as natural and neoprene rubber, also deflect, polyurethane’s much higher load bearing strength and lower compression set gives up to five to ten times the working life.
Bonaprene make impact pads and bars for quarrying, grading, crushing and mining applications. Applications include jaw mount pads, rear feed boots, clamp plates and wear blocks, belt return support strips and shedder plate backing strips. Bonaprene’s range of Bonathane polyurethane grades gives the quarry and mine operator parts with high performance and long life. All major quarry equipment manufacturers specify and fit the Bonathane polyurethane product.
Engineering Plastic Parts
Bonaprene Products bring their huge experience in engineering plastics to making parts for the quarrying and mining industries. Bonaprene work in a wide range of thermoplastic engineering plastics including all the different grades of polyamides (Nylons and filled Nylatron), polyethylene (UHMWPE, HDPE, Regenerated, Ceram), and polypropylene, Acetal, Delrin, PTFE, PEEK and Torlon.
Bonaprene’s comprehensive machine and fabrication shop allows the manufacture of all the parts required for the building of screening and crushing machine and mining machine parts. Employing time served machinists and operating a City & Guilds apprenticeship scheme Bonaprene offers the equipment manufacturer and operator alike the highest levels of quality control and expertise.
Typical parts made are side support wear pads, central belt support stiffeners, tail section liner plates, wear strips, chute liners, barge board inserts, shedder plate backing strip, bed slide plates, bed spacer and angle blocks and friction plates
Polyurethane Scrapers
Bonathane’s properties of high wear and load carrying is the ideal material for making scrapers. Bonathane polyurethane has excellent resistance to oils, fuels and many other chemicals. Excellent tensile strength makes Bonathane polyurethane more resistant to tears and cuts than rubber and silicone. Bonathane polyurethane has great versatility at low temperatures with typical service temperatures ranging from –40ºC to +80ºC.
Bonaprene’s manufacturing process allows scrapers to be made with holes, slots, chamfers and cutouts. Bonaprene’s comprehensive shot blasting and bonding facility allows the incorporation of steel fixing plates and tungsten wear blades into the polyurethane scraper.
Bonaprene also offer the customer the ability to incorporate part numbers and logos into the polyurethane scraper product. This can be helpful when the scraper is fitted onto OEM machinery for future after market sales and the marketing of genuine OEM spares.
Bonaprene make polyurethane scrapers for screening and crushing machinery in the quarrying industry such as feeder scrapers, scraper blades for product conveyors, plough blade rubbers, tail drum scrapers, apron scrapers and drive drum scrapers
Bonaprene offer a very wide range of colours of polyurethane. Standard colours are black, white, red, blue, orange green and yellow. At extra cost specials can be made in virtually any colour imaginable.
Bonaprene offer standard polyurethane hardness from 35 Shore A to 95 Shore A as well as specials in the higher D range of 60 Shore D and 80 Shore D.
The largest part of Bonaprene’s out put of polyurethane scraper blades goes into the quarrying industry of the major original equipment manufacturers, the key distributors and the quarries. The types of applications are backing plates for shedder plates; scraper blades for dirt conveyors; hopper scraper blades; feeder scrapers; collection conveyor belt scrapers and apron scrapers
Fire Retardant Polyurethane Scrapers
Bonaprene can offer fire retardant and anti static polyurethane scraper grades. Bonaprene manufacture scrapers for the mining industry where the polyurethanes made have been tested to the standards set out in the former British Coal Memorandum RD/NMMB (84) 1 method 2 and the former British Coal Specification 158/1989 by the Cerberus Mining Acceptance Service. The polyurethane product is used extensively in the manufacture of plough blades, scraper blades, skirts and impact bars for use within the U.K. mining industry
