Products > Polyurethane Spheres

Bonaprene Products manufacture a wide range of sizes of polyurethane spheres for the pump, dewatering and water treatment industries.

The table below lists Bonaprene’s range of sphere indicating parts generally in stock. These are made in 80 Shore A orange though other hardness and colour combinations can be made.

New Building

The Bonaprene spheres are made to the highest standards of spherical geometry and surface finish to give the best sealing function. Bonaprene use the highest grades of polyurethane material for high wear resistance, resilience and resistance to compression set.

Float Spheres with Foam Inserts

Bonaprene’s standard spheres have a specific gravity of 1.22. Where spheres that can float are required Bonaprene produce a polyurethane encapsulated foam sphere to give a specific gravity of below 1. The thick polyurethane coat ensures these spheres have all the robustness of the standard product.

Polyurethane (PU) Foam Floats

Complimenting Bonaprene Product’s range of polyurethane (PU)
spheres is a wide range of polyurethane foam floats. Bonaprene
Products make these rigid integral skin polyurethane floats with
and without stainless steel inserts.

Bonaprene Products use a two component rigid medium density polyurethane foam with integral skin foam. The foam contains no halogenated blowing agents as water is used as the only blowing agent. Thus the polyurethane system has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP=0) and zero green house warming potential (GWP=0). The use of special surface active ingredients gives a very fine cell structure, good mechanical properties and the best adhesion on all usual construction materials.

Spheres with Metal Inserts

Where heavier spheres are required Bonaprene encapsulate a range of metal inserts in the polyurethane. These include aluminium, cast iron and hollow aluminium and cast iron inserts. Each insert is shot blasted, cleaned and bond sprayed to ensure a homogenous polyurethane/ metal sphere resistant to splitting and separation. The picture on the right shows a cast iron insert, from left to right, in it's natural state, then after shot blasting, cleaning and with a high temperature bonding agent applied and finally with a clear polyurethane casting to make the final sphere product.

Polyurethane (PU) & Nitrile Seats

Bonaprene Products also manufacture a wide range of polyurethane seats to complement the range of spheres. Made from the same grade of high wearing urethane as the spheres, they offer high resilience and resistance to compression set. Combined with Bonaprene’s in-house tool making facility Bonaprene can offer seats to meet any requirement.
