Bonaprene Polyurethane Wheel Coverings
Bonaprene Products manufacture a huge range of roll and wheel coverings & tyres. The wheel coverings are mainly used in high load applications in process industries such as steel strip, timber, laminates, wire making as well as mechanical applications such as launch wheels for offshore concrete pipes. Bonaprene collect the worn wheels from the customer, strip off the old covering, shot blast, bond and polyurethane recover & machine/grind to size. The usual requirements of the coverings are abrasion & cut resistance and high load bearing. Bonaprene also make loose tyres for applications such as road sweepers vehicles s upporting the suction heads as they run along the road surface.
Bonaprene Manufacture Complete PU covered Wheels
Bonaprene Products manufacture wheels complete, sourcing billets of steel, aluminium etc.& any necessary proprietary items such as fixings & bearings, turning & milling them to drawing in the Engineering Shop, polyurethane covering as above and carrying out any necessary assembly work such as fitting bearings and shafts. Bonaprene manufacture quantities from 1 off damage replacements through specialist vehicle installations to turn key factory installations in hundreds of units.
Bonaprene bonding agent
Bonathane49SF bonding agent is Bonaprene’s standard bonding agent that has been used extensively in hot wet environments such as Mining Safety Plates in deep seam coal mining (hot & wet); quarrying impact pads (huge impact loads, cold and wet) & Wringer Rolls used in the pickling process in steel mills (very hot, very wet with inorganic acids) Bonathane49SF is a one coat bonding system for bonding castable polyurethane elastomers
to all metals during the curing process. It exhibits good resistance to static and dynamic fatigue and bonds survive in fluids such as fuels, oils including all types of lubricants, glycols, inks, lacquers, paints and many cleaning solvents. It has good hot and cold water resistance, as illustrated by tests where polyether/MbOCA or polyester compounds bonded to mild steel showed 100% rubber tear when peel tested after total immersion for 28 days in water at 80°C.
Bonaprene Rubber Compounds
Bonaprene Products recover wheels in a wide range of compounds including:
Natural Rubber (NR); excellent physical properties including abrasion & low temperature resistance. Not resistant to oil and fuels. Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR): good physical properties, including abrasion resistance. Not resistant to oil and fuels. Nitrile Butadiene (NBR): excellent resistance to petroleum based fluids (moderate resistance
to aromatics). Good physical properties. Chloroprene Rubber (CR): excellent weather and ozone resistance, flame retarding. Moderate resistance to oil and chemicals. Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPDM): excellent resistance to steam, aging, ozone and chemicals. Not resistant to oil and fuels. Hypalon (CSM): excellent resistance to ozone, weathering and acid. Good abrasion and heat resistance. Fair resistance to petroleum based fluids. Cross-linked Polyethylene: excellent resistance to most solvents, chemicals, oil and fuels including aromatics. Viton (FPM): very good chemical and high temperature resistance. Excellent resistance to oil and fuels including aromatics.
